Few things are as fun to watch in the spring turkey woods as a couple of tom turkeys battle it out to see who the boss truly is. But what about when that battle takes place in the backyard? I’ve raised some domestic turkeys over the last year and have enjoyed watching and listening to them perform their springtime ritual. But when a wild gobbler began showing up in and effort to steal our domestic bird’s hens, I knew a serious turkey fight was inevitable. It was only a matter of time before wild turkey vs. domestic turkey fight ensued.
And then one day it happened.
I looked out the kitchen window to see a wild bird, in full strut, marching up to confront the domestic gobbler. What happens next is nothing short of an epic battle that you won’t see too often.
